Public Charter Offers "Real Choice for Students and Families"

Melisa Shady, Principal of Lorain Community Elementary and Middle School said, "We have a wonderful, high-quality public charter school serving children in grades K-8. We are located at 1110 W. Fourth Street in Lorain."

Many of their students come from Lorain, including a mix of some from neighboring communities such as Amherst, Elyria, Sheffield Village and Sheffield Lake.

Families only pay a $25 application fee. Lorain Community provides just about everything else, including an HP notebook computer for every student starting in the second grade.

Ms. Shady went on to say, "There's a lot of loyalty here. I think it's because we believe in what we're doing. All of us really work hard to provide an exceptional education experience for our students."

Shady, a native of Solon, and Assistant Principal Kammera Rice, who grew up in Vermilion, both have worked in public school districts.

"If Lorain parents are not satisfied with their children's education, Constellation Schools can offer families the opportunity to choose a great alternative, without having to move to another city," Shady said.

Lorain Community is managed by Constellation Schools, an outstanding charter school management company based in Parma. As they celebrate their 20th anniversary, Constellation has grown to 16 schools in their portfolio and are educating approximately 5,000 students across northeast Ohio, including in Lorain.

Rebecca Keeney, Executive Director of Constellation Schools commented, "Our highly qualified teachers are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to experience academic success. We all realize it is a privilege to serve our families and have our parents as partners in the education of their child."

Congratulations to Constellation's - Lorain Community

Another great public charter school!
